Dillo is eight years old!
After a very slow 2006, and a project stop in year 2007, the
new 2008 came with a renewed work force that kept working
steadily behind the scenes. The fruits of this effort are a
new and stable dillo based on
FLTK2
(aka dillo2), that has more features,
bug fixes, goodies and half the memory footprint of the
GTK1-based dillo!
This new branch of dillo is scheduled for release in late
September or early October 2008.
Dillo2 has become the main trunk of
the project, and dillo1 is no longer maintained.
The main focus of this release is to show and share dillo with:
- Developers
- Our users
The dillo project needs more developers to thrive. If you are a
developer, share the
project
objectives or simply like it, and
wish to collaborate, you're more than welcome! Please do
contact us.
Our users will surely enjoy this new release as it will give
them the same things they're accustomed plus antialiasing,
different character sets, accepting compressed pages, control over
image loading,
smaller footprint, fewer dependencies, better table rendering,
bugfixes, improved GUI, ... In brief, a better dillo.
Distributions including dillo (hint hint
DSL!)
are strongly
encouraged to switch to the new branch. It's better, easier to
package (FLTK2 is statically linked), and even more memory
efficient.
During all these 8 years of dillo, the project has advanced,
progressed and grown in direct relation to its developer and user
communities. If you're part of them or want to be, please don't
hesitate to help.
